Tap the end of a chisel under the door stop on.
That s the small rectangular brass plate on the jamb that the striker slips into.
The long screw will grab the wall framing and draw in the whole doorjamb slightly.
Try applying wd 40 or a silicone lubricant if the latch is still catching in the door.

Door lock doesn t latch properly when a door latch doesn t click into position it usually means the latch and the strike plate are out of alignment.
Inspect the shank of the doorknob for a small hole or indentation.
If you find that the latch contacts the strike plate too high or too low make sure all the door s hinge screws are tight.
Loosen the knobs a little to relieve some of the pressure on the door and to free up the latch a little.
